Situated in the SalzburgerSportwelt, the Zauchensee/Flachauwinkl ski resort has a lot to offer the discerning winter sports fan. There are 44km of fantastically groomed slopes, along with 15 ski lifts to help ferry passengers round the resort at a steady pace. The elevations are between 1,000m and 2,176m.
As the highest resort in the Salzburger Sportwelt, skiers and snowboarders come from far and wide to enjoy the slopes, taking in the relaxed atmosphere whilst marvelling at the awe-inspiring mountain range. The motto here is "g´scheit Skifahren", or sensible skiing, giving you an idea of what can be expected at this Lower Austrian resort. In total, there are 23.5km of easy blue slopes, 16.2km of intermediate red slopes and 4.3km of difficult black slopes. In addition, the 3.5km of marked ski routes give those who are into cross-country skiing some interesting terrain to explore.
On the western side of the Gamskogel, the Weltcuparena Zauchensee is touted as the best slope at the resort. Every two years the best female skiers in the world compete against each other in World Cup races.
