Zermatt, Switzerland
Zermatt is a brilliant resort to visit during the summer. With plenty of opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and even summer skiing, you won’t be short of things to keep you busy.
There are also plenty of events to get involved with, including the Folklore Festival. Embracing Swiss tradition, the festival takes place in August. You’ll be able to see a number of folk groups dressing in costume, performing traditional music and dancing. This culminates in a parade through the village celebrating Swiss culture. Chamonix, France
Chamonix is a popular French resort, and with good reason. As well as incredible skiing during the winter months, there are a variety of summer activities and events to get stuck into.
You can try many different sports, including golf, climbing, swimming and paragliding. As well as this, there are many events, such as the Mont Blanc Marathon, yoga festivals and tennis tournaments. For a more relaxing time, visit at the end of July for the Cosmo Jazz Festival. Music is performed in beautiful locations and it’s completely free!
Arabba, Italy
Lying in the heart of the Dolomites, the village of Arabba is usually perfect for skiing in the summer months. Head to the higher slopes first thing in the morning for the best conditions. You’ll also find plenty of summer activities, including hiking, bungee jumping, rafting, horse riding and much more. There is also an excellent choice of mountain bars and restaurants.
If you’re a cycling enthusiast, Arabba is a great place to spend the summer months. The resort hosts a series of biking events, including Sellaronda Bike Day in June. Several roads are closed off to vehicles and reserved exclusively for cyclists, so you can enjoy the beauty of the Dolomites with ease.
Val d'Isère, France
Val d'Isère offers summer skiing at the Pisaillas glacier throughout June and at the beginning of July. As well as this, you can take part in white water rafting, archery, orienteering, golf and many more activities throughout the summer months.
The resort also hosts a variety of events, including the Val d’Isere Traditional Summer Fete. This is perfect for families and involves games, food, a parade, a firework display and more. It’s a great opportunity to experience the traditional French fete in a beautiful location – don’t miss it!
